Either Griswold had a very bad day, or someone else made this from a Erie pattern. This does not appear to be a recast due to the fact the sizing is correct for an Erie #10 skillet, so it’s likely someone had the pattern. Wapak would be the big maker who leaps to mind (they did seem to acquire or copy a lot of Griswold patterns) but this has cruder casting than I’d typically associate with Wapak. Sits dead flat, but has a slew of casting flaws, and a lack of fine polishing which seems to suggest it it was never finished.
Marked: “Erie” ghost mark at the 12 o”clock position then “10” (also gate marked) at the 6 o”clock position
11” 3/4 diameter
Cleaned via lye method, hand buffed and seasoned with 3 layers of non-GMO canola oil.
No cracks, chips, or wobble when tested on a sheet of glass. Cooking surface is crude with large casting voids. Should only improve with use.
As always we are happy to take back pieces if you are not 100% satisfied. (Please see return policy)
