A real WOW! piece – museum quality. This appears to be a wrought iron, rather than cast iron, waffle iron that was made by hand by a blacksmith. Designed for hearth use it would have required the use of a hearth trivet in order to cook with. I can’t even imagine the time that went into making this – as it was made in two separate pieces and then hand peened together. This is a pre-Revolutionary war piece. Hammer marks are evident over the whole of the piece. Interior is beautiful with a hand hammered (using a stamp) snowflake like design on each nub.
6” 3/4 x 4” 5/8 plates. Overall length is roughly 29” 1/2.
Cleaned via lye method, hand buffed and stove top, seasoned with 3 layers of non-GMO canola oil.
No cracks, chips. Outstanding cooking surface.
As always we are happy to take back pieces if you are not 100% satisfied. (Please see return policy)
