Nice little posnet style spider skillet (rounded bottom) with three stubby legs. Style of pot dates this to roughly 1840-1870 era making it roughly 150 years old. Definitely a nice old school piece which could still be used but would make a superb display piece for any collector. Features a remarkably smoothed glassy cooking surface with a number of small casting flaws creating little dimples in the cooking surface. Sits on three stubby legs ~ 3/8” high. Bottom is gated and has a large raised number 8 about 1” 1/4 tall. Look like the handle on the form (not the piece of iron, but the form used to make the mold the iron was made in) was repaired at some point as you can see the area on the handle.
Marked: “8” on the bottom
9” 1/8 diameter (excluding handle)
Cleaned via lye method and seasoned with 3 layers of non-GMO canola oil.
No cracks or chips. Nice glassy cooking surface with several casting voids. Should fill in with use. Outside has a number of casting flaws, but nothing which would effect use, or value.
As always we are happy to take back pieces if you are not 100% satisfied. (Please see return policy)
