Great user skillet. This is a nice little unmarked Vollrath which was almost certainly sold as a store brand with a paper label. It doesn’t have the same level of polishing that Vollrath put out on their highest end pieces, but is a bit smoother than a modern Lodge skillet and will smooth out beautifully with a little use to build up the seasoning. Tiny hint of wobble so it makes it a good one for a gas stove or coils. I think this will become glassy with regular use.
Marked: “3 A” on the top of the handle.
6” 3/8 diameter
Cleaned via lye method, hand buffed and seasoned with 3 layers of non-GMO canola oil.
No cracks, chips. Tiny wobble when tested on a sheet of glass. This one should with a little use become a very good user with an almost glassy finish, but it will take some use

Good user skillet for someone looking for something better than modern cast iron. It appears to be an unmarked Vollrath skillet made between 1910-1940. Sits flat and nicely polished, but it has some flaws with the cooking surface, mostly due to casting voids from inclusions in the sand mold when it was poured. Should become smooth and glassy with a little use as the voids should fill in and reduce.
Marked: “3 b” on the top of the handle
6” 1/2 diameter
Cleaned via lye method, hand buffed and seasoned with 3 layers of non-GMO canola oil.
No cracks, chips or wobble when tested on a sheet of glass. Cooking surface is smooth to the touch but not quite glassy. Marred by some light to moderate imperfections and voids. Should only improve with use.

Unmarked Wagner #5 skillet with nice polishing marks (often mistakenly called mill marks). Decent user quality skillet. Almost glassy with some texture from the polishing near the skillet walls. Has a few flea bite tool marks and some minor stains but nothing that won’t fade away as the seasoning builds up and darkens. Wobbles due to a center bow so not good for a glass top stove as it will spin. Should be great on gas or coils..
Marked: “5” on the top of the handle. Bottom says “8 inch skillet made in USA” on it.
8” diameter
Cleaned via lye method, hand buffed and seasoned with 3 layers of non-GMO canola oil.
No cracks, chips. Fair degree of wobble due to a center bow when tested on a sheet of glass. Cooking surface is smooth and almost glassy to the touch. It has light tool marks and some polishing texture, but it should only improve with use.

Please note: Basket is included but basket is as found – not restored. It needs a good cleaning before use.
Beautiful totally unmarked Wagner deep fat fryer made c. 1940 with included basket (basket is not restored). You don’t find a lot of these unmarked Wagner deep fat fryers and this one is a nice one. Sits flat. Has a couple of casting flaws on the interior (look like craters) and some pinpoint pits, but this will be a great user and can double as a saucepan. Bailed with New England style ears.
Unmarked
7” 5/8 diameter (excluding handle, ears, and spout), 4” 3/4 deep interior, 5” deep exterior.
Cleaned via lye method, hand buffed and seasoned with 3 layers of non-GMO canola oil.
No cracks, chips. Small wobble when tested on a sheet of glass. Cooking surface is excellent with only casting flaws and a few pinpoint pits that should be irrelevant when frying.

13” 3/4 x 10” 7/8 x 8” 1/2 on the rectangle. Stove eye drop is 7” 1/2 diameter x 2” deep.
Unrestored – sold as found.
Museum level display piece. Well over 150 years old. This is a really unusual piece, neither Henry nor I have ever seen one of these before. It’s a rectangular pot with an eccentric bottom on one end, meaning that it has a round lower piece that was designed to be dropped into a stove eye. Has the original tinned steel lid, and is bottom gated. Based on the stove eye drop and the hand wrought bail this piece has to have been made between 1820-1860. New England style ears with unique reinforcing style. Sadly it has a crack on the bottom, so using it would require a repair first (and it might be worth doing), but as a display piece it’s just amazing – and so unique that you probably will not see another one. Hand wrought bail with wooden handle. See pictures.
Sold as found.

I can’t tell you exactly how old this is, or who made it, but it’s an oldie with blacksmith made wrought iron handles, and hand peened joints. That means it’s probably 1870 or earlier at the youngest (as machine made thick wire handles which were MUCH cheaper came available about 1865). This was meant for hearth, or open fire cooking. Very finely cast with each plate done in a different pattern. The lower/deeper plate looks waffle like with 4 sections and alternates between rows of square and round patterning. The upper plate mates tightly to the lower one when closed, and has almost a crimped/angled type pattern.
Totally unmarked.
7” 3/4 x 5” 1/4 plates (excluding hinges and arms). Overall length is roughly 24”
Cleaned via lye method, hand buffed and seasoned with 3 layers of non-GMO canola oil.
No cracks, chips. Outstanding cooking surface.

SOLD AS FOUND. Lightly cleaned but not restored.
This is a museum quality piece. I think this may well be the pestle we have ever found and we’ve certainly never seen another pestle like this one – which makes me think it may be much older than the mortar we found it with (and by which we were able to date it). The bottom of the mortar is sprued, and the body of the mortar is painted/coated in a very old gold paint. There may be markings under the paint – and we could remove it but as it has a very cool look we’ve decided not to at this point. interior has some pitting and light rust.
The pestle has a wooden handle with a heavy iron head that is attached to the wood by a old handmade fastener which may be partially broken or which may just not hold as well due to age. The head does wobble on the pestle. The pestle is very, very unique and marked in raised numbers “81 H”.
6” diameter (at top of lip), 5” 7/8 tall. Pestle is 11” 3/4 long, iron head of pestle is 5” long
Cleaned lightly but not restored. SOLD AS FOUND.
No cracks, chips, or wobble when tested on a sheet of glass. Beautiful interior shape.

This is the smallest double griddle/sad iron heater I’ve come across. Made for use with an old wood stove It’s a very usable piece which would also look great as a display piece. The piece isn’t perfect, it has some casting flaws which adds some roughness to the cooking surface. Has a well about 5/8” deep so it can be used for poaching, roasting, or even frying. Side “wings” allowed it to sit in a wood stove without falling.
Marked: Unmarked.
17” 3/4 handle to handle, outer lip to outer lip 15” 3/4” x 7” 3/4 (at the wings), 5/8” deep. Inner cooking surface 14” x 5” 3/4
Cleaned via lye method, hand buffed and seasoned with 3 layers of non-GMO canola oil.
No cracks or chips. Sits on it’s gate mark so it won’t sit flat on a sheet of glass. Cooking surface has minor tool marks and casting flaws. Should only improve with use.

*High carbon steel knives are highly sought after knives loved by professional and home cooks alike due to the quality of the steel, the edge it maintains and the hardness that is not matched by other knives. If you don’t believe me, take a look the opinions of Alton Brown. Please note these are NOT stainless steel knives, they do require a little bit of care (prompt washing and drying after use, occasional sharpening, etc), but hey, if you can maintain a cast iron pan you’ll find this a piece of cake. Over time they will develop a patina, and even stain. But they are probably the best quality steel knives you’ll ever use.
