  • #1032 Meridian reveresed slicer1

    Item 1032
Razor sharp!  I love Meridian blades – in fact my favorite knife in my kitchen is one of their blades that I’ve had for years and years.   This one is a a reversed angle slicer with an 8”  inch blade, full tang, triple riveted hard wood handles (scales), and a nice polished blade.  Fully restored and ready for use.   Meridian was a Connecticut knife maker who made blades in Meridian, CT from 1855 to 1916, at which point they were purchased by Landers, Frary and Clark who used that name until 1924.

    Marked “Meridian Cutlery Co USA”

Knife has been professionally restored,  polished and sharpened it is RAZOR SHARP.  It may have some nicks and scars from use.

    $55 shipped.

*High carbon steel knives are highly sought after knives loved by professional and home cooks alike due to the quality of the steel, the edge it maintains and the hardness that is not matched by other knives.  If you don’t believe me, take a look the opinions of Alton Brown.  Please note these are NOT stainless steel knives, they do require a little bit of care (prompt washing and drying after use, occasional sharpening, etc), but hey, if you can maintain a cast iron pan you’ll find this a piece of cake.  Over time they will develop a patina, and even stain.  But they are probably the best quality steel knives you’ll ever use.

As always we are happy to combine shipping, as well as take back pieces if you are not satisfied.  (Please see return policy)

Nice Case XX slicing knife in amazing shape.  Looks terrific.   Half tang, double riveted.  Called a 10” blade right on the blade, but the reality is that it’s 9” 1/2 long.  Dark handle which I believe are wood infused with resin.  Gorgeous blade with intact chromium.

  • #1041 Ka-Bar round slicer1

    Item 1041

Knife has been professionally restored,  polished and sharpened it is RAZOR SHARP.  It may have some nicks and scars from use.
Long before Ka-Bar started making the iconic USMC military knife they made kitchen knives.  This is a 1930-1940s era round tipped slicing knife with a chromium coated high carbon steel blade.  Chromium has a lot of scratches (someone took a tool to it) in it which have penetrated through to the steel underneath making it far less of a pretty blade than some of the Case, and other Ka-bar knives with the coating intact.  Half tang, double riveted.  Good price for a good knife.

    Marked:  “Carbon Ka-Bar Chrome”

$28 shipped.  (buy this knife with Ka-Bar item # 1042 and get a $10 rebate on the pair)

  • 1679-magic-hostess-grinder-salad02

    Item 1679

The height of food processing technology – of 1956.

Sometimes we run across something that is not iron, but really is too cool, or too useful to leave behind.  This is one of those pieces.

This is a Magic Hostess combination food processor, allowing you to grind meat, or make salads by putting your food into the hopper and turning the crank.  Looks like it was never even used and is still in the original box with original instructions.  I believe these were made until the mid 1960s, but this book combination has a 1956 date on it, making it at least 60 years old and it’s still crazily usable.

This is a combination manual, rotary, salad, vegetable shredder, grater, slicer with four different blades for different taskes(the Salad Chef part) and meat grinder with three reversible grinding discs (for corse, fine and very fine grinds) all on a chromed base that attaches to a counter using suction cups.  It’s actually an amazingly cool piece of home tech and very retro!

Sold as found (all it needs is a little washing)

    $65 shipped.

As always we are happy to take back pieces if you are not 100% satisfied.  (Please see return policy)

  • slicer11

Can you imagine getting your deli items prepared with this old time hand cranked deli slicer? This is a piece which I bet could tell some stories. Admittedly I’m presuming this was made to slice meats and cheese based on my research, but it could easily have been for potatoes and vegetables.

    Completely unmarked.

features a counter clamp to fasten it in place, a rotary head that has four razor blade like blades, a hand crank for turning the rotary head and a push plate to guide your item to the blades and not risk those delicate little fingers. There definitely was some art to using one of these.

I find this one to be just an amazing little bit of historical ingenuity. While it’s perfectly usable, it would make an amazing display piece too.

Sold in as found condition (everything works).

$65 shipped (FedEx with insurance) for $25 additional we can restore it for you if you’d like (Takes 7-14 days before we can ship).
