Please note all pictures on our site are of the actual piece you will receive, not a stock photo of a similar piece. Additionally all our pieces unless marked otherwise are fully restored and seasoned. Just wash them and start cooking.
This is something really special, you just don’t find these, and I mean really don’t find these. Really nice old broiler in the hinged clamshell style that was specifically designed to fit an old Home Comfort wood stove made by the Wrought Iron Range Company of St. Louis, MO (sometimes called the Home Comfort Stove company). Based on photos I think this broiler fit into their 1864 model of wood stove (but I cannot swear that is the correct model as I just don’t know for sure and am making that assumption based on photos). It can be used without the stove for outdoor cooking, or possibly on another type of wood stove, but I’d consider keeping this one as a display piece due to rarity. Has two notches on the ends where it sat on a pivot in the stove, and a hook style flange for opening and closing the broiler. One tine of the broiler on one side is missing having been broken off.
Marked: “Home Comfort Broiler” (in raised letters) then “B8-12” on both sides. Also has a diamond mark on the hinge on both sides.
19” 1/4 x 8” excluding hinges, ~ 2” 1/8 high.
Cleaned via lye method, hand buffed and seasoned with 3 layers of non-GMO canola oil.
In beautiful shape for the age with no pitting or damage save for the tine on one side that has been broken off.
As always we are happy to take back pieces if you are not 100% satisfied. (Please see return policy)
