This is a Wagner Ware # 3 skillet made between 1930-1960. It was the luxury model – plated with nickel to give a more “modern” look for the housewife of the age who didn’t want to be seen as old fashioned in the kitchen. The plating on this one isn’t bad, but you can see where it has worn away in spots. That is only external and won’t detract from usability. Has a glassy cooking surface which is flat, glassy and still shows signs of mill marks.
Markings: “Wagner Ware Sidney -O-” (the high stylized logo) then “1053A” on the bottom and “3” on the handle.
Size: 6” 1/2 diameter
Cleaned lye method, hand buffed and seasoned with 3 layers of non-GMO canola oil
No cracks, chips. Small wobble when tested on a sheet of glass, so not ideal for a glass top stove. Cooking surface is really superb, nice and glassy with very, very light flea bite tool marks. Should only get better with use.
