Antique coffee roaster/nut roaster. This was made for use over a open fire cna could have been used over a camp fire or in a hearth, and almost certainly was made before 1850. Wooden handle appears to have been repaired several times. Hand peened blacksmith made wrought iron rod connecting the handle to the roaster. Sliding door. This one has had a good life and would look great hung up for display. Very long so it will be a bit harder to ship.
Steel is good with just minor surface rust, there is a hole at the seam, that looks to have been made when the piece was crushed a bit, it is not due to rust. (See pictures)
Overall length 37” canister is just over 7” long with a diameter of 5” 3/4
