User piece. This is an old abelskiver (danish pancake or apple pancake) or egg poaching pan probably made in Europe. While the enamel on this was in very good shape it wasn’t perfect so we took steps to make this into a good user piece. The bottom has been japanned, and the top has been seasoned anywhere that bare iron could be seen. The results are pretty and it turned this (and it’s sister pan which is slightly smaller) into very good user piece. Features 7 wells and a unique handle design meant to keep the handle cooler. Designed for wood stove use – pan was almost certainly made between 1880-1930. (NOTE we also have the #1 size version of this pan – search for number 2195)
Unmarked
9” across excluding handle.
Cleaned via lye method, hand buffed and seasoned with 3 layers of non-GMO canola oil.
No cracks, or chips in the iron, but there are some in the enamel where the iron has been been seasoned over or japanned. No wobble when tested on a sheet of glass. Nice cooking surface.
