While most of the world calls these pieces enameled, Jaoob Vollrath invested his money in porcelainizing pieces (as they called it). is there a difference between it and regular enamel? truth is I don’t know. But what I do know is that it is unbelievably rare to find them with really good coating. So what is a Maslin kettle? Really is’s not that different from a dutch oven, but it is believed it was used for the cooking of grains. Slightly bigger than a number 8 dutch oven. There is very slight crazing to the coating (the mosaic like look of the bottom). This one has some staining that should be removable with some scrubbing and cleaning product Interior is white, while the outside is a pale blue. Bottom is bare iron.
Marked: with a raised “5”
9” 7/8 diameter 5” tall
Just washed with soap and water, no further restoration was done.
No cracks chips. Wobble when tested on a sheet of glass. Cooking surface is porcelainized with a mostly intact coating..
