Very early Wapak #9 skillet with outset heat ring. You can see the modifications Wapak made to the handle on this one as traces of where a spine had been on an earlier design can still be seen in the rear of the handle hollow. Cooking surface and walls (both interior and exterior) were nicely smoothed while the bottom clearly shows casting flaws (and some very minor pitting from wood stove use). Cooking surface is almost glassy to the touch – and only has some minor tool marks – which should be reduced by use. Definitely a piece for a gas stove as the bottom as a large bow that causes a large wobble which would be dangerous for a glass top.
Markings: “Wapak 9” on the bottom.
Size: 11” diameter (Excluding handle)
Cleaned via lye method, hand buffed and seasoned with 3 layers of non-GMO canola oil.
No cracks, chips. Has a large wobble due to a bow when tested on a sheet of glass. Cooking surface has some tool marks but is mostly smooth and glassy. Will only get better.
As always we are happy to take back pieces if you are not 100% satisfied. (Please see return policy)
